Charity & Voluntary Work

For over four centuries Woodbridge School has been at the heart of the local community, and beyond.

Town and School enjoy a strong, beneficial, symbiotic relationship and the School is pleased and proud of the many ways in which it integrates with the local community and contributes to it.

Principal events in the year's calendars include:

  • The pupil Charity Committee drives charitable fundraising in the School, and over the last eight years has raised one third of a million pounds for local and national charities.
  • Every summer students from the Clerkenwell Parochial School, London come to Woodbridge for a residential break. Team games and numerous different activities provide a break away from the inner city.
  • Each year, Woodbridge students, parents, friends and staff take part in a 100-mile bicycle ride from Seckforde Street, Clerkenwell, London to Seckford Street, Woodbridge. The riders raise many thousands of pounds for the Bridge School in Clerkenwell which caters for young people with learning difficulties.

In addition, groups of Woodbridge students spend three separate weeks each year at the Bridge School helping as residential volunteers.

  • As part of the School’s community service, students help at local charity shops and residential homes on Friday afternoons.
  • Sports Leaders from Woodbridge School visit local primary schools (both independent and maintained sectors) organising games and activities for the younger members of the community.
  • The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has involved students in community service both locally and internationally, most recently with 26 students travelling to Nepal to help at the Ghar Sita Mutu orphanage.
