Woodbridge Senior School is a very “English” school, and overseas students form just 5% of the total pupil population. Hence entry is very competitive, and applicants need to be academically able, or talented in music. The School values its overseas students, and they enjoy a rich cultural experience alongside high quality teaching. Recent achievements for our Asian students can be seen here.
Entry is offered to boarding students at the age of 13+.
In some circumstances where international students are following the curriculum of their home country, arrangements may be made for them to sit Woodbridge’s entrance examination papers in their home country school, test centre or at the premises of one of our overseas education agents.
Applicants whose mother tongue is not English must be able to prove that they have the academic potential to complete their chosen course of study and that their English is adequate for the subjects they wish to study. Requirements for ‘English as a Foreign Language’ will be assessed in advance of entry, and lessons timetabled if appropriate. EFL lessons are included in the School fees.
Our SCHOLA Programme is offered to all overseas students as a week long, residential introduction to life in England and Woodbridge School. During this course, students will be assessed for any EFL requirements. They meet future classmates, will be given the opportunity to make an informed choice of subjects and are assisted in setting up a bank account, organising uniforms, ordering required materials and generally ensuring they are fully prepared for the start of term.
The School offers all overseas students the opportunity to take advantage of the considerable benefits provided by the
SCHOLA Programme.
