We are celebrating 350 years with a range of events and souvenirs.
Wednesday saw the U16's play Culford for a place in the later stages of the county cup. As it happens both sides have progressed and Woodbridge will now move forwards to play Ipswich in the Finals evening next week.
Culford and Woodbridge started tentatively with both sides waiting for the opportunity to strike. The Woodbridge side contained a mixture if Yr10's & 11's and it certainly showed in the early exchanges.
The Culford side's playmaker started to pull the strings in the midfield as the half progressed and Woodbridge failed to muster any real attacks. Midway through the half, the Culford attack worked a tight opportunity which led to the resulting short corner goal. A further goal towards the end of the first half led to a 2-0 scoreline and some difficult choices at half time.
We decided to go for broke and launched countless attacks that certainly rocked Culford back - however it was never enough and the inevitable counter attacks led to further Culford goals. Posts were hit, chances missed and the Woodbridge side can count themselves highly unlucky to not score a few goals.
Lorna Bennell was outstanding throughout and deserves genuine praise! Rudland and Richardson were also stand out players for the Woodbridge side. But it was a case of missed opportunities albeit with a chance to redeem ourselves at next weeks finals. A win versus Ipswich would be enough to take us through to the regional finals - so its a case of fingers crossed for next Friday.
