Match won: 10-3Goals: Mansfield (3), LaVergne (2), Judge (2), Foskett, O’Riordan, Robertson.
This was a confidence boosting win for the Senior 2nds who are continuing to improve. The Dutch system suits our style of play with a robust defence behind a midfield showing great creativity and fitness. Woodbridge went ahead early in the game by two goals and if anything made us a little lazy in our defensive duties; as a result we let Culford back into the game and the score at half-time was a slender 3-2 lead. After the team talk they were under no illusions as to who should go on to stamp their authority on the game. In the second half Woodbridge opened up, and converted, numerous attacking chances. Peter Mansfield completed a skilful hat-trick and the power of Will LaVergne’s shooting bagged him a brace. Matt Judge, Will Foskett, James O’Riordan and the hard-working Josh Robertson also scored as Woodbridge asserted their dominance. A word also for Tom Case at the heart of the defence; his reading of the game approached ominiscience.
