The U14A's produced a thrilling finale to the season with a tied match on Saturday.
Woodbridge lost the toss and bowled first, with some fine bowling from Sutton and Robson restricting Framlinham to a miserly 19 from 10 overs. This was then extended by a fine spell from Askins of 5 overs, 2 wickets for 5runs, ably supported by a similar spell from Felton. This was ably backed up in the field incudin a stunning catch from Sutton, whilst further efforts from Robson were equally commendable.Eventually Framlingham managed to release the pressure despite fine bowling from Neall towards the end - yet a final toal of 122-8 off 30 overs appeared a manageable target
Sadly a poor start with some contentious dismissals led to a start rivalling Framlinghams. Recent centurion Askins and key batsman Robson were dismissed early and Woodbridge struggled to play the swinging ball. However Sutton and Felton set about the task with relish, batting very maturely before realising the need to countr attack and increase the pressure on Framlingham. Sutton eventually fell for a deserved 39 and was swiftly followed by Felton for 26 - with Woodbridge requiring 30 more for victory. Some lusty blows brought the match to knife edge conclusion- 5 needed off the final over (3 wickets in hand). Both Nicholson and Little fell and this left Neall and Grant requiring 2 off the last ball to win. Grant managed to edge the ball and a fine stop from Framlingham's fielder stopped a possible two leaving the match a tied affair.
A superb unbeaten season (from 3 matches!) shows the obvious promise from a very talented year group where strength in depth is key factor.
