The curriculum at Woodbridge combines breadth with a strong focus on the major academic disciplines. It aims to provide each child with the essential intellectual skills needed for later study, including the ability to think critically and logically, whilst still capturing the imagination and allowing for diversity of interests.
Supporting the curriculum, the Cultural Studies Programme draws on literature, art, music, film and theatre, and takes students well beyond the National Curriculum. An integrated ICT programme underpins all subjects.
The diversity of the curriculum is continued right through the School to the Sixth Form, where 25 subjects are available for study at AS and A2 Levels, alongside a critical thinking course.
The strong encouragement to learn languages is reflected in the availability of French, German, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin, Chinese and Japanese. Mathematics and separate sciences are major strengths of the School and are taught by specialists at all levels.
A Learning Support scheme helps pupils across the academic spectrum – from those who are highly gifted to those who need extra assistance in class. The well-proven tutor system identifies each pupil’s aptitudes and abilities, encouraging them to make the most of the opportunities offered.
