The major independent schools in the United Kingdom (the HMC schools) are inspected by ISI (the Independent Schools Inspectorate) in a framework agreed with the DCSF. The process is tough, analytical, and digs deep into school life.
Hence our delight that the report resonates with the adjectives exceptional and excellent. (In the ISI framework where even a good is hard to achieve.)

The report gives objective evidence of the very high quality of pastoral care and academic achievement at the school.

The headlines are:

• The proportion of parents who responded to the questionnaire was the highest that the Reporting (Lead) Inspector had come across, and the responses themselves "proclaimed an exceptionally high level of satisfaction...".
  
  
• Pupils are achieving beyond expectation academically, whatever their age, ability or gender. You need to link up paragraphs 1.7/1.8/1.9 with paragraphs 2.20/2.26 in order to deduce this!
  
  
• That success is built on excellent learning attitudes (2.17 to 2.29), a significant proportion of excellent teaching (2.42 to 2.57), excellent pastoral care, exceptional support at the senior school (3.12), and excellent relationships between pupils and staff, and among pupils (3.14).
  
  
• The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils is described as exceptional (2.30 to 2.40), and the relations with the wider community outstanding. "The school has a vibrant creative life, and it is a place where the performing arts live up to their name". Music and drama are first class (we already knew that they were unmatched by any school in the region), sport very strong, and chess (again) exceptional.

The second report is the Ofsted inspection of School House: (our boarding house) this centres much more on care than education, yet unsurprisingly awards three excellent and three good grades in the six categories.
