Message from The Master
Estonian Exchange
Thank you so much to all the families who hosted Estonian pupils during the recent exchange. It has been reported to me that our visitors greatly enjoyed their time in Suffolk and I am sure they took home many happy memories.
Grandparents’ Morning and Sports Day
We were very pleased to welcome so many visitors to our Grandparents’ Morning. In fact, at one point, we ran out of guides. Thank you to everyone who made short and long journeys to visit The Abbey, it is obvious how much the pupils enjoyed showing you their school.
Well done to all the pupils who participated so well in our Sports Day. It was an exciting afternoon and I was particularly pleased with how well you all supported each other. We were all delighted that so many families could join us for the afternoon.
WSPA Midsummer Madness
A huge ‘Thank you’ to Mrs Kelly Condon and all the parent volunteers who organised and ran an enjoyable and successful Midsummer Madness following Sports Day. It was clear that great fun was had by all.
Swimming Success
On the first Monday after half term I was very pleased to present the cup to our Year Three swimming team who won the New Hall Swimming Gala. This was a marvellous achievement by all the team.
Year 3 ESB
Well done to all the Year Three pupils who performed so well in their English Speaking Board exams. I am well aware that a great deal of hard work went into preparing for this and it was impressive to hear about the wide range of topics the children spoke on.
Car Parking
Please will parents refrain from parking near the bottom gate. This is a no parking zone and parents who continue to park here are causing a major traffic hindrance and preventing other cars from entering or leaving the site.
Prize Giving – Return of Cups and Trophies
Please can I remind all families to return cups and trophies, polished and engraved, (as engraving is the responsibility of the parents), to The Abbey Office by Friday, 10 June. Thank you.
Commendations
Congratulations to the following pupils who received Commendations: Alex Lowe (3), Nicholas Peel (4), Oliver Bacon, Eden Wigzell (3), Jemima Wayman (2), and James Phelan (3).

Match Reports
U11 St Felix Rounders’ Tournament
On Wednesday, 23 May The Abbey’s U11 A Team went to the St Felix Tournament. We played against Taverham Hall, Norwich and
St Felix and managed to win the whole event by using great skill and teamwork.
The subs also came on and helped the team out in the second half. Once again Rosanna Loyd did some wonderful catching and also stumped everyone out in the third match. Millie Leith, as our bowler, did some great bowling and hardly gave any half rounders away. Victoria Williams stumped two people out and so did Katja Longbon. The deeps, Nancy King, Emma Harrington, Maddie Felton and Josephine Pryor did some really good long distance throws when the ball came to them. It was one of those matches where everything came together, fielding and batting. Well done everyone.
